LA Branch Booked Three Major Projects - 1/4/2005
Fujitec’s Los Angeles branch recently booked three major projects for 2005, including a five-car modernization job at the Four Seasons Hotel of Beverly Hills (pictured). The job consists of three 350 fpm passenger cars and two 300 fpm service elevators. This 18-story hotel is known for its luxurious accommodations and is frequented by celebrities such as Mick Jagger.
LA also booked a condo project that will feature two Talon elevators. The contractor on this project has also mentioned the possibility of an additional 3-18 Talons before the end of the year.
Also worth noting is the addition of three new escalators for the famous Hollywood and Highland complex. These escalators will allow customers to access multiple levels of shopping from the outside courtyard. The units will be equipped with Fujitec’s Sleep Mode. California code does not currently allow for the sleep mode function on its escalators; however, the complex ordered this feature anticipating its future adoption into code.
Sleep Mode is an innovative feature that slows down the escalator after a predetermined period of non-use. Sensors located at the escalator’s entrance notify the controller when a new passenger is approaching and thus resumes the escalator to its normal speed. As a result, Sleep Mode saves energy, decreases wear and extends the overall life of the escalator. In addition, another two escalators will be ordered this quarter to serve as access points from the courtyard to the adjacent Renaissance Hotel.
