Fujitec America and Virginia Elevator Proves to Be a Successful Alliance - 10/22/2008

RICHMOND, VA– October 22, 2008 – Fujitec America, a division of Fujitec Co., Ltd. <NIKKEI 6406> today announced the recent completion of two new high profile installations in Richmond, Virginia, sold through Fujitec’s first authorized distributor, Virginia Elevator Co., Inc.

Under these agreements, Virginia Elevator was fully responsible for the installation of Fujitec equipment including Millennium controllers and structural packages.

The first project, the Medical College of Virginia Critical Care Hospital, included nine geared traction elevators, two hydraulic elevators and two escalators. “When we started the $184 million hospital project, we had concerns about a local elevator contractor being able to handle the size and complexity of the project. However, our concerns quickly evaporated as Virginia Elevator proceeded with the work. Along with engineering support from Fujitec America, Virginia Elevator not only met, but exceeded all our expectations. They have become our first choice ‘go to’ elevator contractor for all our negotiated work,” says K. Brooks Balance, Director of Operations for W.M. Jordan Company.

The second project was the Federal Courthouse, which included eight geared traction elevators, one hydraulic elevator and one dumbwaiter. In addition, a full modernization on five geared traction elevators was completed at Trolley Square (east and west buildings).

According to Kirk Bailey, Virginia Elevator’s Vice President of Construction/Modernization, “Our alliance with Fujitec has allowed us to provide our customers with a superior product at a competitive price. The equipment, engineering, technical support and training provided by Fujitec is second to none. Our alliance has opened doors to larger projects that are normally not available to independent elevator contractors. We are proud to be a Fujitec distributor.”

Other Virginia Elevator installations supported by Fujitec include the University of Virginia Emily Couric Clinical Cancer Center, Popkins, Monroe Towers, American Tobacco and Franklin Federal.

“Virginia Elevator is and continues to be a perfect fit for Fujitec. They are a top-notch company with a proven track record of quality service in the Richmond area. We look forward to the work we will do together far into the future,” says Rick Lockridge, Fujitec America’s Director of Business Development.
